A Hospitalist’s Case: Environmental Services and Interprofessional Practice
Medical Professor of Community Health and Social Medicine at the CUNY School of Medicine and an Adjunct Professor of Internal Medicine at Penn State College of Medicine
In more than twenty years of internal medicine practice, Dr. Omrana Pasha-Razzak has watched environmental services work alongside her teams without being counted as part of them. Over this time the care team has grown, from doctors, to doctors and nurses, adding pharmacists, and other professionals responsible for patient care. It is time for environmental services to join this team. Drawing on five domains—patient-specific cleaning, patient flow, infection prevention, chemicals and products, and governance—she argues for the necessary structural changes. Get a sneak peek.
